Responsibilities

How will you make an impact? 

 

As part of the Compensation & Benefits team, the Benefits Administration Specialist will be responsible for the administration of employee benefits programs while delivering excellent customer service and resolving day-to-day benefit-related issues & escalations. The Specialist will work with a variety of 3rd party vendors and insurance carriers, as well as HRIS & payroll teams, to ensure administration of plans is carried out in accordance with plan provisions and regulatory guidelines. A key focus will be educating employees on available benefits through clear communication, resources, and ongoing support to drive understanding and engagement.

 

Duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of various health & welfare benefits including medical, dental, vision, life & disability insurance, and other voluntary benefits.
  • Perform regular audits of benefit-related payroll deductions to ensure accurate setup, timely processing, and correction of discrepancies. This may include reviewing payroll records, validating deductions, and reconciling benefits data with HRIS and carrier records.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex benefit issues and act as liaison to third-party carriers and plan administrators in the investigation and resolution of benefit coverage matters and other administrative issues.
  • Manage and maintain good working relationships with external partners (benefits providers, consultants, brokers, and auditors) and internal partners (HR, HRIS, & Payroll team members).
  • Review and process invoices to ensure rate & volume accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including reporting, annual filings, audits, maintenance of plan documents, etc.
  • Develop and review communications including informational & promotional web content and other supporting materials for employee communications and compliance.
  • Organize and conduct employee education sessions and annual enrollment roadshows.
  • Collaborate with vendors, carriers, HRIS partners, and internal HR teams.

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for? 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related field with at least 1-3 years of related experience preferred
  • Strong analytical & math skills for data and trend evaluation.
  • Advanced Excel & data analysis skills working with large data sets.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of legislative issues and laws that affect benefit administration & compliance, such as ERISA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, etc.
  • Experience with benefits administration platforms and HRIS & payroll systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer service, collaboration & relationship management skills.
  • High degree of discretion and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Experience with a large, geographically dispersed and union-represented environment preferred.
